Nike, the US based, $15 billion, 43 years old, world’s #1 shoemaker, which specialises in making designer sport shoes, apparel and equipment, has decided to double its retail presence, in the country, from 100 single brand stores to 200 stores, during the current year. Nike will take franchisee route to expand its retail network.
This was announced during the recent launch of its Ronaldinho signature collection in India. While celebrating football, this collection weaves the story of the successful Brazilian footballer. The collection, which includes apparel for both on and off the ground, has been priced in the range of Rs 3,990 and Rs 8,900.
Nike, named after greek goddess for victory, is present across all the six continents and employs about 28,000 people directly and about 6,90,000 people indirectly as workers in its contracted manufacturing facilities worldwide.
