Reliance enters North with 5 ‘Fresh’ stores in the pink city of Jaipur

Reliance_FreshAfter making a beginning in the South, Reliance ‘Fresh’ has now entered the North zone with the opening of five new stores in Jaipur effective 15th December, 2006.

All the new stores in Jaipur will work for 13 hours a day (8 AM to 9 PM), seven days a week. Each of these stores will occupy retail space of between 2,000 and 3,500 sq. ft.

Like sixteen of its sibling stores having already been launched, within a short span of six weeks, in the southern city of Hyderabad, the new Reliance ‘Fresh’ stores at Jaipur will offer a wide variety of fresh vegetables, fruits, flowers, dairy products and food items in a world class ambience.

According to Raghu Pillai, Chief Executive Officer, Reliance Retail, Reliance plans to first open a few pilot stores in each of the geographical regions of the country. As such, there will soon be Reliance ‘Fresh’ stores in the eastern and western regions of the country as well.

Reliance ‘Fresh’ is a part of the Rs. 25,000 crore retail initiative of Reliance Industries Limited- the most capitalised company of the country.

In the first phase by 2010, Reliance Retail will set up of 4,000 retail stores, across the formats, in 784 cities of the country which will occupy retail space of 100 million square feet and achieve annual turnover of Rs. One lakh crore (or OneTrillion Rupees).

Speculation is rife that by 28th December, 2006, the birth anniversary of the Reliance Founder Late Shri Dhirubhai Ambani, Reliance Retail would have launched at least 100 stores spread across different cities of the country.
