Reliance developing ports; would help retail logistics

rewas_portHaving recently launched 11 Reliance ‘Fresh’ stores in Hyderabad, as a part of Rs. 25,000 crore retail initiative, Reliance, is bracing up to extend its retail network to different regions of the country.

To support its retail business and SEZs, Reliance Industries is planning to invest around Rs. 5,000 crore to develop two all weather sea ports at Rewas (Maharashtra) and Sikha (Gujarat) reports the HIndu Business Line.

Rewas port, which will be a multi-cargo port capable of handling large vessels, will be linked to two of the four SEZs, at Maha Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, being developed by the Reliance group. The new ports, which will have facilities to handle and store perishable goods would help Reliance to better manage its logistics. Rewas port is located 10 kms. south of JNP, at the confluence of the Patalganga and the Amba rivers on the west coast of Maharashtra.
