Pantaloon Retail, the Rs. 1868 crore flagship brand of Kishore Biyani owned Future group, which has multi format retail stores spread across the country, is planning to open its fifth ‘central mall’ in Ahmedabad, by 2009.
Pantaloon Retail (India), has three central malls operating in Hyderabad, Pune and Bangalore, while it is giving finishing touches to its fourth central mall slated to be opened soon in Vadodara. Pantaloon is putting special emphasis on Gujarat, which it considers to be the third biggest market for organised retail after metro cities of Mumbai and Delhi. Gujarat, contributes around 12% of the Rs. 27,000 crore modern retail pie.
Central malls, which have been conceptualised with the theme of “Shop, Eat and Celebrate” have several unique features. For example, the first “central” mall, spread over 1,20,000 sq. ft., in Bangalore has separate sections for providing services like, Travel, Finance, Investment, Insurance, Cinema Booking, etc. and houses over 300 brands across categories catering to the needs of women, men, children and infants apart from a whole range of Music, Books, Coffee Shop, Food Court, Super Market (Food Bazaar), Restaurant, Pub and Discotheque. The mall also has Central Square – a dedicated space for product launches, impromptu events, daring displays, exciting shows and art exhibitions.
The Ahmedabad central mall, likewise, will also have food, fun and shopping, all under one roof.
