We had earlier carried a report suggesting that first of the Reliance’s retail stores to be called “Feel Fresh” will be launched on 18th October at Hyderabad.
It now appears from the news emenating from Reliance sources that this may now be delayed for around two months. First, the launch was speculated to happen on birthday of Mukesh Ambani, now according to aDNA report, it is likely to happen on 28th December, the birthday of group founder Dhirubhai Ambani.
“We are in no hurry to launch, but whenever we are ready, we’ll doing it with a big bang. There’s no sanctity to any launch date or why we are starting off with Hyderabad,” said a Reliance source.
Major reasons causing the delay are believed to be: staff recruitment and training, realty prices and fixing IT and supply chain systems.
Feel Fresh stores, the smallest of Reliance retail formats, which would occupy between 2000 and 4000 sq.ft of retail space, are subsequently to be launched in Ahmedabad, Mumbai and New Delhi within 45 days of the Hyderabad launch. The bigger formats – it plans a total three, including hypermarkets — will come much later.
Apart from its outlets in Hyderabad, Reliance Retail has identified 15 tier-2 cities in Andhra Pradesh including Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Chittoor, Tirupathi, Adilabad and Karimnagar for entry, all of which have big potential for fast growth.
